Telemedicine

Telemedicine Case. It’s been a very very long time since I posted. Due to the covid 19 virus I recently opened up telemedicine service. This service is based on the patient’s tongue photo and a detailed questionnaire of his health history. Is this possible? Not requiring to pay a formal visit? In most cases it is and I think patients should get used to this in the future. At the time of writing the 1st wave of the virus has gone by and the 2nd wave is still a mystery. Certain areas of the world people take wearing face covers extremely seriously while in other places it is not taken seriously at all. In the latter I’m afraid the 2nd wave can easily happen. Patients have an inclination to just get acupuncture, what happens if you cannot get acupuncture? In TCM you still have herbal medicine which is very effective as well.

I recently treated a patient who I told him I couldn’t see him in person due to the virus. He was suffering from gastrointestinal issues. I told him why not try herbal medicine. He agreed. The patient complained primarily of intestinal pain and diarrhea. The problem has been going on for some time. It was worse at one time but is better now but lingering. This is the hallmark of chronic issues. Other than that nothing else much wrong. No upper GI issues. The problem is solely confined to the lower section. His tongue photo showed that he was under stress influences. His spleen and stomach fluids are not enough. This would be from long term absorption issues as well as the loose stool and diarrhea which itself depletes fluids. I prescribed him herbal medicine. Within the 1st week he was getting results. After 4 weeks things were much better. His tongue coating was more evident showing that the fluids are being retained by the body better. This was a relatively simple case.
